ISO 11000-1 is the proposed international standard that provides a framework for creating collaborative working relationships between organisations. It defines how you may share knowledge, skills and resources effectively – helping all partners to achieve their mutual goals. Effective collaborative relationships can also lead to better cost control and effective risk management. Also working with organisation who you may have previously viewed as competitors can achieve innovation not normally achieved in a typical client-supplier relationships which, traditionally, are defined by a purchase order and delivery date.
Many projects, but typically those in the public sector, contain complex multi-skill requirement which most organisations are unable to deliver in isolation.
Gaining ISO 11000 can set your organisation apart through better business relationships. The proposed standard outlines a framework for building and maintaining partnerships which paves the way for streamlined working. ISO 11000 also gives guidelines to increasing joint efficiency, transparency and understanding around governance processes. It also includes advice on assessing and monitoring these partnerships through a relationship management plan.
Any organisations who work together in a supply chain would benefit from this and particularly those involved in the construction sector.
