The Assignment
In order to continue their business growth path Adey Electronics Limited commissioned Independent Advice for Business Limited to introduce the ISO9001:2008 Quality Management System Standard into the company and identify possible areas for improvement within their current process.
Making it Happen
After discussions with management and staff the following proposal was agreed:
1. Preparation of the Quality Management System Manual and associated procedures to support the operation to ISO9001:2008.
2. Undertake a complete Internal Audit of the process, list any non-conformity’s and create a corrective action plan.
3. Advise Adey Electronics Limited on implementing these into their processes.
4. Undertake approximately 6 site visits (one per month) to complete internal audit programme and to give guidance to their staff towards achieving accreditation.
5. Attend the external audits and advise on any corrective actions needed.
The project commenced in February 2012 and, after an initial meeting to review the business activities, a draft Quality Manual was produced that both reflected Adey Electronics Limited process and procedures and met the requirements for ISO9001:2008. In the following months a full internal audit programme was undertaken, non-conformities identified and time scales agreed for rectification. Throughout the project adjustments were made to the documentation to reflect the findings of the internal audits.
Once the internal audit programme and the corrective actions were completed the documentation was submitted to ISOQAR Limited who undertook a Stage 1 audit remotely. After additional corrective actions highlighted in the report were addressed the company was able to undertake and pass the Stage 2 audit on 30th July 2012 and gain accreditation to ISO9001:2008.
